Dr. J. Steven Blake
Dr. J. Steven Blake was born and raised in Mississippi and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi(bachelor degrees in chemistry and zoology) and completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). His residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the hospital of the PCOM and his fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1994 at the hospital of PCOM. He completed The Osteopathic Heritage Health Policy Fellowship through Ohio University and New York Institute of Technology in 2001. He is a graduate of Leadership Philadelphia (a premiere leadership development program) class of 2004.
He completed the building of a new medical office building in July 2005. It houses both the medical gastroenterology practice and the state of the art Mt. Airy Ambulatory Endoscopy Surgery Center. He sits on the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He is also on the Alumni Board of Directors for PCOM. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He is a fellow of the Osteopathic Heritage Health Policy Institute. He is an assistant clinical professor in the department of medicine at PCOM, lecturing in the sub specialty of gastroenterology and chairman of minority scholarship committee at PCOM. Dr. Blake is active in a number of organizations. A member of the National Medical Association and the National Osteopathic Medical Association (past national president 1998 – 2003); a member of American Osteopathic Assoc; a member of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Assoc; a member of Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Association; and a member of the Philadelphia County and Pennsylvania Medical Society. He is also a member of Mt. Airy Business Association and the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. He is a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church of Germantown.
He is the President/CEO of Blake Gastroenterology Associates, LLC and the President/CEO & Medical Director of The Mt. Airy Ambulatory Endoscopy Surgery Center. He currently holds a staff position at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
Dr. Carmen Anita Sandridge
Dr. Carmen Anita Sandridge, a board certified physician in Internal Medicine, came to Philadelphia to fulfill her childhood dreams. She dreamed a world of a healthy people with supportive families. She graduated from University of Memphis and earned a Bachelors of Science degree. Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine accepted her in 1998 where she was a distinguished graduate in the class of 2002. She was a member of the Student National Medical Association, Medical Explorers, Internal Medicine club and Sigma Sigma Phi honor society. During her first year of medical school, she chose to work in the Bridging the Gaps summer program with young people in the West Philadelphia area. She encouraged them to take life seriously and get an education. Her medical path led her to St. Joseph’s Hospital in north Philadelphia to complete her internship. The physician and hospital staff chose her as the Intern of the Year and she received the Most Compassionate award. As she completed her residency at Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown, those doctors also chose her as Chief of Internal Medicine and Co-Chief Resident.
Currently, she is practicing at Blake Gastroenterology Associates in the Mount Airy area and has been appointed to the Admissions committee at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Internists, and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. She is honored to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. which was founded in 1913. She serves on the Physical and Mental Health committee and volunteers for health fairs, community seminars and service projects. As a member of Blake Gastroenterology Associates, she embraces the vision to provide early colon cancer screenings. They are on a mission to service and educate the community through one patient at a time. She truly believes “to whom much is given much is required.”
Dr. Delana Wardlaw
Dr. Delana Wardlaw is a board certified family physician currently practicing in the Philadelphia area at Blake GI Associates. Dr. Wardlaw is a native Philadelphian and a product of the Philadelphia public school system. She is a graduate of Central High School and Temple University where she graduated with Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Honors. Dr. Wardlaw completed her medical school education at Pennsylvania University College of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Montgomery Hospital where she served as chief resident.
As an African American woman in the medical field, Dr. Wardlawhas a bird’s eye view of the discrepancy in health care received by minorities. She is committed to giving back to the community and helping to bridge the gap that exists in medicine today by not only providing quality medical care but by educating patients as well. Dr. Wardlaw participates in various community activities including health fairs and performing motivational speeches at local schools. She also serves as a consultant to the Miss Fit Campaign which teaches pre-teens and teens about a healthy body image. Dr. Wardlaw has also participated in a weekly hour long radio show with her twin sister Dr. Elana McDonald, titled WMMD, Wardlaw-McDonald, MDs, Educating the Community from within the Community. The show’s purpose was to educate the African American community about diseases and conditions that predominately affect us.
